Brian Keane, President

Brian F. Keane is President of SmartPower, a nationwide non-profit marketing organization dedicated to promoting clean, renewable energy.

In December 2006 the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy awarded SmartPower its coveted Green Power Pilot Award for SmartPower’s cutting-edge and groundbreaking outreach for clean energy. In January of that year and again in 2007, SmartPower was awarded the Gold Medal from the Service Industry Advertising Award (SIAA). In November of 2004, the People’s Action for Clean Energy honored Keane and SmartPower as one of “Connecticut’s Clean Energy Environmental Heroes”.  Similarly, the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection has honored SmartPower with its “Green Circle” Award.

Keane has an extensive background in non-profit management, political organizing and communication. From 1999 through 2002 Keane served as Director of Public Affairs for the Boston based, Conservation Law Foundation.  Prior to that, Keane in 1995 became the founding Executive Director of Economic Security, 2000.  This national, non-profit organization became a leader in the effort to protect and preserve Social Securty.

Keane also served as National Field Director for The Concord Coalition, an anti-deficit organization founded by former Senators Paul Tsongas (D-MA) and Warren Rudman (R-NH).
 

 

Jonathan

 

Jonathan Edwards, Vice President, Director of REMA

Jonathan Edwards is SmartPower Vice President and Director for the Renewable Energy Marketers Association.  In his role as Vice President and formerly COO, Jonathan, for close to six years  has run the day to day operations and staff management of this award winning non-profit marketing campaign to promote clean, renewable energy.   Further, as the REMA Director, Edwards leads the day to day operations for this trade association with the mission of promoting and advocating for the voluntary renewable energy markets.

Edwards has also helped to steer the marketing and messaging effort that has become known as the “Got Milk” campaign for wind, solar and water.    Edwards has led SmartPower efforts in the areas of fund development, media relations and the SmartPower signature marketing campaign, the 20% by 2010™ campaign as well as the Clean Energy Communities program.  

In 2004 Edwards was nominated to chair the Service Working Group at the Connecticut Department of Public Utility.  This groundbreaking committee designed the Alternative Transitional Standard Offer (ATSO), now known as the CTCleanEnergyOptionssm program.  This program is now one of the leading residential clean energy switching programs in the nation.  

Edwards has significant experience in both non-profit management and organizational design having served previously as the founding Executive Director of the Retirement Security Alliance in Washington, DC and one of the founding staff persons and regional directors for deficit watchdog group, The Concord Coalition.  Edwards has also served on the campaign staffs of the Paul Tsongas presidential campaign as well as for Congressman John Olver (D-MA).

Jonathan is a graduate of Skidmore College and holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Massachusetts.  In 2004, Edwards was elected to the Whately, MA Board of Selectman, where he still serves.
 

 

Lyn

 

Lyn Rosoff, Director of Marketing

Lyn Rosoff is the Director of Marketing for SmartPower. She is a veteran advertising and marketing professional with over 25 years of consumer marketing and communications experience.

Ms. Rosoff’s professional background includes 18 years at Arnold Worldwide, where she served as Senior Vice President; marketing consultant for the launch of a dot.com and partner in Booming, an on-line membership organization.  She has served as a frequent instructor for the Advertising Club of Greater Boston, having taught courses that include “How to Get the Most Out of the Client/Agency Relationship”. Lyn has also chaired the Ad Club’s Public Service Committee. She currently serves as Vice President of the Board of the United Way of the Greater Seacoast (serving communities in New Hampshire and Southern Maine), is a volunteer marketing consultant for the Executive Service Corp, and volunteers at Fair Tide, a program that provides transitional housing for people in need.

 

 

Andrew

 

Andrew Voris, Communications Manager

Andrew Voris holds an integral role in the daily operations at SmartPower – managing both media outreach and on-the-ground marketing programs.

Voris’ community organization skills and project management throughout 2008 and 2009 led SmartPower’s  Pennsylvania Clean Energy Communities program to achieve 100% of the program’s goals. Because of his work, 20 municipalities reached ambitious clean energy purchasing goals set by SmartPower and the Pennsylvania Sustainable Development Fund. Voris also works with college campuses in our ongoing mission to promote Energy Smart behavior—conserving energy, being energy efficient, and using clean energy—to young adults through programs like America’s Greenest Campus.

Voris has a BA in journalism news/editorial from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he reported for school and community newspapers and broadcasted on community radio.  He resides in Washington, D.C.

 

Brian   Brian Wright, Director of Programs

Brian Wright provides strategic direction, leadership and management for all of SmartPower's  project work, with a specific focus on the coordination and execution of our Energy Efficiency campaign. Wright also oversees SmartPower’s work in the states of Alaska, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Prior to joining SmartPower, Wright was the Director of Finance for the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA), as well as its Director of Member Services. In the latter role Wright was responsible for developing a grassroots network of 50,000 healthcare advocates. Wright also served as Chief of Staff for the Boston City Council from 1994 to 2000.

Wright has been active in local, statewide and national politics for the past 20 years. He earned his MBA from Boston College, and his BS from Northeastern University.
