Sometimes, going green sucks.

I woke up, exhausted, with an intense pressure in my sinuses.  Groggily, I took a shower and prepared for my day ahead at the SmartPower offices.  It didn’t help that my head was throbbing all through the morning, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from saving the environment.  I hurriedly dressed, as I was once again running a little late.  (I have a bad habit of lying awake after my alarm goes off).  Thankfully, I was able to make it to the subway by about 8:10am which gave me plenty of time to make it if the trains weren’t delayed.

They were.

After about five minutes of stalling on the platform, the train that I had boarded finally moved into the dreary tunnel that I had become so familiar with in my seven weeks of commuting through it.  Then we stalled…  Another five minutes went by… I became aggravated, as I knew that this would mean I would be late by no fault of my own.  To compound matters, my nasal cavities felt like a razor blade was seriating them every time I drew a breath.
Ten minutes of the cramped conditions on the subway flew by until, finally, the train pulled into the next station. The conductor then informed us that the train would be offloaded due to a mechanical problem.  Yippie skippy.  I had two choices now, I could either wait an undisclosed amount of time for the next train to come, or go topside and hoof it.  I chose the latter.  It took me twenty minutes of excruciating nasal pain and dehydrating heat, but it was worth it.  After all, it beat taking a CO2 emitting cab.
