Keeping the Green “Green”

Every golfer knows that those bright and sunny days are the best days on the green. Well, thanks to some ingenuity on the part of Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y, those are also the best days to BE green!
According to the New York Times , they have recently invested around $3,000 per golf cart to convert them to entirely solar powered vehicles. Not only does this investment save a lot of energy that would otherwise be spent plugging the carts in at night, it also provides each cart (fueled by the power of the sun) with a very long lasting battery.
Besides helping with their environmental impact, the club also hopes this solves the inconvenience of a dead battery on the course — which I’m sure all golf fanatics can cheer about!
As the upcoming host of the 2013 Women’s Open, their eco-friendly statement will be seen by countless viewers and hopefully inspire many other clubs to hop on board. This was definitely a hole in one!
