We all live in an age where a cell phone is nearly a must for day to day living. Whether for work or play, a charged cell phone is in the hands of countless people at any time, in any place. While most of us have a daily routine of plugging our phone in before sleep and grabbing it in the morning, Nokia is offering a new option.

Nokia has recently unveiled a bike powered charger. The kit comes with brackets that hold your phone and the generator securely to your bike while charging. Electricity is generated as the rider pedals the bike and at 6 mph can give the user 28 minutes of talking time in only a 10 minute bike ride. Their website even suggests using it to play music off of your cell while you bike! According to the Green Tech Blog, this charging method will work on any Nokia phone with a 2 mm power jack.

For those who bike to work, this is an excellent addition to the carbon footprint reduction you’re already making, and for only $18 dollars, you can’t go wrong! The kit is already for sale on the Nokia Europe website and will be available soon in America as well.
