The Rhode Island Energy Challenge is a community campaign, supported by National Grid, that engages municipalities; community organizations and businesses in helping residents, members and employees reduce energy use by taking 4 energy saving actions. Central to the “Find Your Four” campaign is an on-line platform that guides residents in making energy better choices that result in energy reductions.
Specific responsibilities of this position include meeting with municipal leaders, employers, and other community leaders to motivate them to have their organizations participate in the RI Energy Challenge. The Community Outreach Manager will recruit these organizations to create marketing and outreach partnership opportunities such as, tabling at events to sign up participants, hosting workshops, using newsletters to enlist participation among members and other custom approaches to engage participation. There will be important data collection, tracking and reporting responsibilities. The Community Outreach Manager will work under the direction of SmartPower’s Chief Operating Officer and the Rhode Island State Director.

SmartPower, a DC-based national non-profit marketing organization dedicated to promoting clean energy and energy efficiency seeks a poised, confidant and detail-oriented person who shares a passion for clean energy and environmental issues to work in our DC office. The Program Assistant will provide administrative and program support to the SmartPower management team, and work with our Community Outreach Managers in programs across the country to support their outreach efforts.
Specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: fulfilling and/or coordinating requests by Community Outreach Managers to support their program outreach efforts including requests for marketing materials, working with vendors to produce materials as well as working with our digital partners to make regular updates on the SmartPower and program websites; coordinating team meetings and conference calls; supporting team members as needed; administering the Washington, DC office (e.g., answering phones, opening mail, providing support for on site management and for remotely located employees); coordinating hiring and management interns, and assisting with basic accounting tasks. There will also be occasional request to assist with the production of reports or proposals; event planning; and preparing basic PowerPoint and Prezi presentations. There will be other duties and responsibilities as the needs of the organization evolve and grow and the successful applicant needs to be open and willing to take on new challenges and opportunities.
The Program Assistant will work in our Washington, DC headquarters under the direction of SmartPower’s Chief Operating Officer.
